Jiang Han followed Nan Chu upstairs first. Once they entered her room, he covered the camera and said, “Nan Chu, I can’t bear to be apart from you.”
“It’s only two days.”
“I can’t bear it even for two days.” He still hadn’t managed to win her over.
Besides, Si Junyan, who was traveling with Nan Chu, still had feelings for her. Jiang Han was afraid that Si Junyan might steal her away.
The more he thought about it, the more irritated he became.
Sensing his displeasure, Nan Chu walked over and patted him on the head. “Don’t be upset.”
Her gesture made Jiang Han laugh softly. He lowered his head slightly and asked, “Is that how you comfort people? By patting them like little dogs?”
Nan Chu fell silent.
She had only ever comforted dogs, so this was the only way she knew.
“To comfort someone, you should kiss and hug them.” Jiang Han gazed at her with a smile in his eyes.
Nan Chu lowered her head and thought about it. After a moment, she took two steps forward, raised her head, went up slightly on tiptoe, and gave him a quick, feather-light kiss.
Jiang Han was stunned. Nan Chu had actually taken the initiative to kiss him.
He broke into a ridiculously delighted grin.
Only after quite a while did he help Nan Chu carry her luggage downstairs.
At nine o’clock, the guests drove to the airport. They then boarded separate flights and headed to different cities.
Nan Chu and the other two arrived in Dunhuang shortly after three in the afternoon and checked into a guesthouse.
That evening, the three of them had dinner at the guesthouse before going out to admire the stars.
They were lucky. Under a clear sky, they saw stars filling the heavens.
Nan Chu gazed at the night sky, lost in thought. It was truly beautiful. In her world, she had never seen a sky this magnificent.
Because of pollution, the stars had long been obscured. From birth until death, she had never seen so many of them.
She decided that when she had some free time, she would take a proper trip and see the beautiful rivers and mountains of this land.
Si Junyan looked at her and said, “You’re staring so intently. I take it you like it very much.”
“I do.” Nan Chu nodded. “The night sky is so beautiful.”
“A pity we don’t have a camera,” Shen Shangqian said. “Otherwise, we could take pictures of this beautiful sky.”
“It really is a pity.” Nan Chu nodded in agreement.
The three of them chatted harmoniously about all sorts of things. After spending more than an hour there, they returned to the guesthouse.
Once back, they sent their daily messages of affection.
Nan Chu received three messages.
Jiang Han: “You’re not here. I miss you.”
Shen Shangqian: “Tomorrow I’ll bring a camera. Then I can photograph the beautiful night sky—and beautiful you.”
Si Junyan: “I hope you’re happy every day.”
After reading the messages, Nan Chu set down her phone and read for a while. The book belonged to the guesthouse and was one she had borrowed. After reading more than twenty pages, she went to sleep.
The next day
“Brother Shen, do you have a fever?” Nan Chu asked, noticing that something seemed wrong with Shen Shangqian’s complexion.
“I’m fine. It’s only thirty-eight degrees,” Shen Shangqian insisted stubbornly.
“Your voice is hoarse. Brother Shen, have you taken any medicine?” Nan Chu asked.
“No. I’ll be fine if I tough it out.”
“Brother Shen, I brought cold and fever medicine. I’ll go get it for you.”
“Thank you for your concern, Nan Chu, but I really don’t need any medicine.”
Seeing how determined he was, Nan Chu reminded him solemnly, “Brother Shen, if you can’t hold on, don’t force yourself. Tell us right away.”
Shen Shangqian smiled weakly through his illness. “All right.”
After breakfast, the three of them took an off-road vehicle to a sandboarding site.
Shen Shangqian glanced down at the sand dune.
This is way too high. He was afraid of heights.
Hearing his unspoken thoughts, Nan Chu gave him a sidelong glance.
“Guests, will you be using a single board or a double board?” the staff member asked.
Si Junyan chose a double board, while Nan Chu chose a single board.
Shen Shangqian asked, “I’ve never done this before. Is it difficult to learn? Which one is safer?”
“Don’t worry. They’re both safe.” The staff member paused, then added, “A double board is easier to learn.”
After all, falling while skiing could result in broken bones, whereas sandboarding would usually only leave someone with a few scrapes.
Shen Shangqian ultimately chose the double board.
Once they had put on their equipment, the staff member taught Shen Shangqian how to sandboard. After he had more or less grasped the basics, the staff member asked, “Who wants to go first?”
“I will.” Nan Chu stepped forward.
She was the first to slide down.
[She looks so cool!]
[That looks like so much fun. I want to try it.]
[She’s incredibly brave.]
[Nan Chu is absolutely stunning!]
Nan Chu quickly reached the bottom. Compared with skiing, sandboarding was relatively slow.
Si Junyan followed her down.
Only Shen Shangqian remained.
[Shen Shangqian is afraid of heights. I don’t think he’ll dare.]
[Come on!]
[As someone who’s afraid of heights, I understand.]
Several minutes passed, but Shen Shangqian still didn’t dare to go down. In the end, the production crew provided him with a board that allowed him to slide down while seated.
Only then did Shen Shangqian sit down and begin sliding. But halfway down, he suddenly became dizzy and his vision blurred. His body tilted, and he fell, tumbling all the way down the dune.
[Oh my God!]
[Please don’t let anything happen to him!]
[Qianqian must have gotten dizzy from his cold and fever. I hope he’s all right!]

Nan Chu immediately used the Wind-Clearing Step and rushed toward the spot where Shen Shangqian was rolling, stopping him.
The moment Nan Chu dashed forward, Si Junyan hurried after her, but he couldn’t keep up.
[Nan Chu’s protective instincts are incredible!]
[Nan Chu is so fast! She crossed the distance in the blink of an eye.]
[Is Shen Shangqian all right?]
[That looked terrifying.]
[It’s only a sand dune. He should be okay.]
“Brother Shen, are you all right?” Nan Chu asked anxiously.
“I’m dizzy and my vision is blurry. I feel a little sick,” Shen Shangqian replied, his face pale.
Nan Chu touched his forehead. He was burning up. This was probably more than thirty-eight degrees.
“Brother Shen, I think you have a high fever.”
The production crew arrived as well. They quickly helped Shen Shangqian to his feet and took him to the hospital.
Nan Chu and Si Junyan went with him. In the car, Si Junyan asked her with concern, “Nan Chu, are you all right?”
“I’m fine.”
“If something like that happens again, don’t rush in. What would you do if you got hurt?”
“It’s all right. I’m very strong.”
“Even if you’re strong, you shouldn’t do something like that.” Si Junyan frowned. “No matter how strong you are, you can still get hurt.”
“Thank you for your concern.” Nan Chu smiled.
When they arrived at the hospital, Shen Shangqian underwent a series of examinations. He had not suffered any injuries; he simply had a high fever. They put him on an intravenous drip to bring the fever down.
Nan Chu and Si Junyan stayed at the hospital with him.
The Cloudtop Flower Sea at Gaopo
After Jiang Han and the others arrived, quite a few fans recognized them, especially Cheng Luoli and Li Wenya.
The crowd continued to grow.
The production crew hurried to disperse everyone to prevent a safety incident.
Just as they were doing so, a male fan suddenly charged through the crowd toward Cheng Luoli and hugged her from behind.
He even tried to force a kiss on her.
Just as his lips were about to touch hers, Jiang Han punched him and knocked him to the ground.
The staff immediately rushed forward and restrained the crazed fan.
Cheng Luoli’s face had gone completely pale with fright.
